Questions & Answers

Please describe a case in the last year or two where you made a big difference.

I represented a father opposing his ex-wife's application to remove their son to Texas. My client is a very caring and involved parent. The prospect of his son's relocation to Texas was unbearable to him. The ex-wife application was denied after a plenary hearing (i.e. we won).

How did you build a successful practice?

I built a successful practice through my responsiveness, track record, hard work, creativity, and word of mouth. I was also provided with guidance from friends who have gone solo before me

What should clients look for in a lawyer?

Aside from diligence, strong negotiating skills are crucial to any divorce case. Statistically over 95% of cases settle (sooner or later). Even in litigation, negotiating skills help in understanding and addressing/responding to the other side's positions

How important is local knowledge to the success of your cases?

In my experience, knowing the style of the judge assigned to a divorce case can be helpful

What information can you provide in a free phone consultation?

I can learn the basic information about the case, and if possible (based upon information received), I can give my opinion as to how I would resolve or approach the issues at hand. I can also provide the information about my fees and retainer, and answer questions about my firm and myself

What information do you need in a free phone consultation?

It depends on the case. If it's a divorce case, I always need to know the date of marriage, the number and age of children, parties' age, employment and income, and a list of assets and debts. In a post-divorce case, I need the date of divorce, what is the issue to be addressed, whether there are any post-judgment orders (additional information would depend on the issue).

What differentiates you from other lawyers in your community?

My qualifications, experience, track record, community support differentiate me from other lawyers in my community. I also have personal experience with divorce and single motherhood.

What is the most rewarding aspect of your job?

The most rewarding aspect of my job is helping people who are experiencing the most traumatic event of their lives: a divorce

What are your other interests in addition to law?

I enjoy reading, hiking, and biking

Are you involved in your community?

Yes. I am fluent in Polish and take pride in helping the Polish community with their legal needs.
