Questions & Answers
Please describe a case in the last year or two where you made a big difference.
I approach all of my cases and clients knowing that, to them, my representation will make a big difference. A person's traffic ticket getting dismissed can mean a great deal, as can winning a hard-fought custody battle, or getting a reduced sentence for a criminal conviction. When people hire attorneys, they are usually in turmoil. They need to know have the right lawyer to guide them through a tough time.
How did you build a successful practice?
I approach all of my cases and clients knowing that, to them, my representation will make a big difference. A person's traffic ticket getting dismissed can mean a great deal, as can winning a hard-fought custody battle, or getting a reduced sentence for a criminal conviction. When people hire attorneys, they are usually in turmoil. They need to know have the right lawyer to guide them through a tough time.
What should clients look for in a lawyer?
A client should feel that their attorney has the experience and knowledge to handle their case, and should feel comfortable when speaking with their attorney. In my case, I work very hard to make sure that my clients and I have a good rapport, whenever possible.
How important is local knowledge to the success of your cases?
Local knowledge is critical. An attorney must be well-versed on your jurisdiction's rules, as well as the unwritten preferences of judges, clerks, prosecutors, and other attorneys. I have practiced in our local courts for over a decade now, and understand that nuances matter. Each courtroom and area of practice has distinctions that can have a significant impact our clients.
What differentiates you from other lawyers in your community?
Courtroom know-how. In more than a decade of practice, I have focused heavily on litigation. I have personally argued cases in over 60 counties in North Carolina, as well as all federal courts in the Eastern District of North Carolina, and immigration courts in Charlotte and Atlanta. This experience allows me to fight for my clients with confidence and ease.
