About Amee

I am a first-generation American who is fluent in Gujarati (an Indian dialect) and born to parents who immigrated to America from India in the late sixties. I was raised in the State of New York and graduated from Alfred University (located in upstate New York) in 1995 with a Bachelor of Science in Biology. After making the decision to go to law school, I pursued my legal studies at Quinnipiac University School of Law in Hamden, Connecticut, and graduated with a Juris Doctorate (J.D.) in 1998. I was admitted to the Connecticut Bar in November of 1998 and was later admitted to the federal practice of law in the United States District Court of Connecticut.

Practicing law for over 20 years has given me a tremendous amount of experience in dealing with legal matters.

I have worked in offices representing plaintiffs (the person who files a lawsuit) and have also worked as in-house counsel for the Allstate and Encompass Insurance companies, where I represented defendants (the person sued) in civil litigation. I have successfully tried several cases in front of juries in the Bridgeport, New Haven, Waterbury, and Stamford Superior Courts.

This experience has given me a valuable advantage in advocating for my clients in personal injury cases and other civil matters. I am able to see the strengths and weaknesses of each case from both perspectives and this enables me to succeed in settling or litigating personal injury claims for fair and reasonable values.

Approximately thirteen years ago, I expanded the diversity of my practice into the area of Probate and Elder Law.   Through my work in the probate courts, I also discovered a passion for assisting the elderly and disabled as well as their families, as they navigate the process of planning for their future or working through more immediate care needs.  I truly enjoy working with clients and supporting them through the process of obtaining the help they need, whether it involves asset preservation or applying for help through a state or federally funded program.   I also work as a private counsel as well as probate-court-appointed counsel on several cases.  I am able to provide representation in any of the state’s probate courts.   I most commonly have worked in the East Haven-North Haven, Wallingford, Hamden-Bethany, New Haven, Cheshire and Shelton Probate Courts.  My probate work includes estate administrations, conservatorships, guardianships, and some unique probate litigation matters.  I have served as Attorney, Conservator, Guardian, and Guardian Ad Litem.

I am currently a member of the New Haven County Bar Association, Connecticut Bar Association, Elder Law Section of the Connecticut Bar Association, Connecticut Pro Bono Network.  I also serve on the Commission on Aging for the Town of North Haven.
