About Andrea

Since 1996, individuals in Washington, D.C., and Maryland have turned to The Law Firm of Andrea Hirsch for help with divorce, child custody, support, and other family law issues.

Having the right lawyer affects not only the outcome of the case but the manner in which it is handled. And that manner can have lasting consequences. Fanning the flames of animosity, litigating every point no matter how emotionally and financially draining—this is not the approach of Attorney Andrea Hirsch when handling her clients’ family law disputes.

Attorney Hirsch focuses on getting to know her clients, building relationships with them, and helping them reach a resolution that is in their best interests. It is important to her that her advice to clients is realistic in view of their particular circumstances.  Every family is different and there are no cookie-cutter solutions. It is her informed belief, based on decades of experience, that most family law disputes are better handled out of court. Whenever possible, she uses negotiation, mediation, or collaborative processes to find resolutions that benefit the entire family.

Attorney Andrea Hirsch has been a leader in expanding collaborative law offerings in D.C. and Maryland. She is a founding member of the Collaborative Dispute Resolution Professionals, as well as a founding member of the D.C. Academy of Collaborative Professionals. She is a member of the Maryland Collaborative Practice Council and the International Academy of Collaborative Professionals. In 2010, she became co-founder and principal of the Collaborative Practice Center of Greater Washington.
