Please describe a case in the last year or two where you made a big difference.
I believe in helping clients reach settlements and avoid going to court so I think I make a difference in all of my cases.
How did you build a successful practice?
By building relationships in the community. I get referrals from other attorneys, from my own personal networks, from mental health professionals who are seeing couples or individuals in counseling and from satisfied clients..
What should clients look for in a lawyer?
Obviously you want somewhat smart and experienced. And divorce is a highly personal matter so I think you need to look for someone with whom you feel comfortable sharing information and who listens to you for what you want and need from the process.
How important is local knowledge to the success of your cases?
Local knowledge is not all that important. Your attorney needs to be licensed in the state where you or your spouse reside and where you will be getting divorced.
What information can you provide in a free phone consultation?
A lot. I often spend at least 3 minutes. I can gather information about what is going on and offer guidance as to next steps and possible outcomes.
What information do you need in a free phone consultation?
Generally the status of what is going on- still living together or separated, is there a court proceeding. what are the marital assets and liabilities liites (generally s, are there minor children, what are the partie's incomes, is there any urgency?
What differentiates you from other lawyers in your community?
I think finding a divorce lawyer is a question of fit. There are a lot of good lawyers in our community. I listen carefully to my client so that I can try and achieve a the best possible resolution for them. I also am committed to trying to find an out of court resolution and urge my clients to consider all of the factors involved in reaching a resolution, including the time and money spent and resultant stress.
What is the most rewarding aspect of your job?
When clients thank me for helping them get through a very difficult life passage.
What are your other interests in addition to law?
Cooking and reading
Are you involved in your community?
