Questions & Answers
Please describe a case in the last year or two where you made a big difference.
I represented a woman who was injured in a store. The store refused to help her with the medical bills and even denied she was shopping in the store at the time of the incident. Unfortunately, her injuries required surgery. To further complicate her situation, the surgery resulted in a MRSA infection which caused significant damage and further surgery. We worked with her through the treatment process to make sure she received all of the treatment she needed. She is now back to being active on her feet and enjoying life. In addition, the store, prior to trial, settled with my client paying a sizeable sum which has made a tremendous difference in her life.
How did you build a successful practice?
By listening to my clients and providing answers in plain language; by being available to client any time they need help; by giving clients a straight answer, even if it may not be what they want to hear; and by word-of-mouth advertising.
What should clients look for in a lawyer?
Someone who will listen to the issues and give them a straight answer even if it's not what they would like to hear; someone with the knowledge and experience to handle the case and the wisdom to know when it should be referred to someone with greater experience in a particular area.
How important is local knowledge to the success of your cases?
Over my 20 years of practicing law, I have developed relationships with many of the local doctors, banks, other attorneys, and clients which helps to get things done throughout my practice.
What information can you provide in a free phone consultation?
In a free phone consultation, I can let a client know about specific statute timeframes, notices to be issued, and what basic elements make up a cause of action.
What information do you need in a free phone consultation?
What I need in a free phone consultation is the date of injury so I can tell the client if there is still time to file a lawsuit or if that timeframe has passed.
What differentiates you from other lawyers in your community?
I don't rush to settle cases, but instead try to insure that my clients get all of the medical treatment they need. This also helps in evaluating what a case is truly worth.
What is the most rewarding aspect of your job?
The most rewarding aspect of my job is helping people navigate through the legal maze which can be very confusing for most.
What are your other interests in addition to law?
My other interests include woodworking and gardening.
Are you involved in your community?
I am involved in the Oxford Lion's Club.
