Please describe a case in the last year or two where you made a big difference.
a. I represent spouses who were abused by their US Citizen spouse. I have been successful in obtaining green cards for the abused spouse under the Violence Against Women's Act. b. I represent widows/widowers whose US Citizen spouse has died before their application for a green card was filed. I have been successful in obtaining green cards for the widows/widowers. c. I represent disabled clients in obtaining US Citizenship. I have been successful in obtaining US Citizenship for clients who cannot take the US Citizenship exam due to their disability. Some of my clients have an intellectual disability, learning disability, alzeheimer's, dementia, cerebal palsy, etc. I love representing my clients who have a disability.
How did you build a successful practice?
I put my client first. I make my client feel at ease and comfortable. I make myself accessible to my client and their needs. I often become friends with my clients because of the bond we form during the many phases of their case. I will often come to the client if the client is unable to travel to my law office. I sometimes take calls after hours or on the weekend. I allow my clients to pay installments according to their budget.
What should clients look for in a lawyer?
A client should find an attorney who listens to the client and their expectations; meets client reasonable expectations; empathizes with the clients situation; honest and available to the client by responding to emails, calls, texts, etc within a reasonable time frame; does not overcharge a client for their case; has not received a Bar complaint and finding from their local Bar Counsel; follows the Rules of Professional Responsibility with the Bar Association.
How important is local knowledge to the success of your cases?
It is very important for local knowledge to the success of a client's case because an attorney can prepare for the personalities or experience learned from interviewing at the different immigration offices: Fairfax, Va; Baltimore, MD; New York, NY.
What information can you provide in a free phone consultation?
I provide general legal education tailored for the particular client's legal situation. I do not provide legal advice because there is no attorney client relationship. I provide useful and meaty information the client can use in order to make an informed decision to move forward with the client's case with or without the attorney. I do not provide off the cuff legal advice. I provide satisfying information to the client.
What information do you need in a free phone consultation?
Who, What, Where, When, and How answers to questions. I need enough specifics to get a good grasp of the case.
What differentiates you from other lawyers in your community?
I am a lawyer who cares about my client and their family. I am not an attorney who wants to make a huge legal fee. I am fair with my legal fees. I allow installments. I charge based upon how long it takes me to do a case. I do not compare my legal fees to other lawyers. I do not overcharge. I charge for the work performed. I pray for my clients, their families, and the case outcome.
What is the most rewarding aspect of your job?
I love meeting new people. I love it when my clients become my friends. I love helping those who do not have the voice to speak for themselves. I love serving the underserved.
What are your other interests in addition to law?
Traveling with my family
Are you involved in your community?
I attend Thai Christian Church of DC; I am Chair of the Board of Directors, disability Law Center of Virginia; I am a member of the South County Middle School PTSO; I give free immigration seminars for my community; I teach ESL at my church; I volunteer for Northern Virginia Special Olympics Wahoos Swim Team; I host weekly Women's Bible Study at my home; I volunteer as an immigration low bono or pro bono attorney for Christian Legal Aid of DC and Good Samaritan Advocates.
