Questions & Answers
Please describe a case in the last year or two where you made a big difference.
Many of my clients hire me because they feel like insurance companies are taking advantage of them and do not have their best interests in mind. My clients know that I am their advocate and I take this role very seriously. Last year, I resolved several complicated auto uninsured motorist cases without the need for lawsuits, and I also successfully settled several pedestrian accident cases in which my clients were being victimized by the insurance companies. The most recent example of my successful case resolutions occurred when my client was injured at a friend's house, and the insurance company only offered her a nominal settlement amount that did not nearly compensate for her injuries. After I took over the handling of her case, my client received a $250,000 settlement. I also recently represented a Special Olympics athlete who was injured in a car accident when riding his bicycle and obtained a substantial policy limits settlement for my client. In all these cases, my involvement made a big difference for my clients by getting them the settlements they deserved.
How did you build a successful practice?
Building a successful practice requires caring about my clients and their situations, being responsive to clients' needs, and reaching efficient and positive case results for them. Clients need to be comfortable with their lawyer and never feel like they don't understand the process. A client must also look for a lawyer who can build a good rapport with them, for that will develop trust between the client and their lawyer, and lead to a successful case settlement. Also, every client must look into if their attorney knows how the decisions are made on the opposite side of any dispute. As for me, I worked as an in-house attorney for major insurance companies prior to becoming a plaintiff's attorney, which has given me invaluable experience in dealing with insurance adjusters and getting fair settlements. I bring this experience and expertise to the table in each one of my clients' cases.
How important is local knowledge to the success of your cases?
Local knowledge is somewhat important, as each county has their own local court rules, and there could be major differences from one county's court rules to those of another. However, it really depends on the case itself, and evaluations must be made on a case to case basis as a result.
What information can you provide in a free phone consultation?
During a free phone consultation, I can answer important questions and present and explain possible ways of resolving particular matters to potential clients.
What information do you need in a free phone consultation?
Case details and specifics, such as information about the day of the accident, accident details, medical treatment to date and property damage information.
What differentiates you from other lawyers in your community?
I make it easy for my clients to reach me and always take the time to respond to all their inquiries. I have been in the practice since 2004 and have handled a great variety of cases during my career, allowing me to be an effective advocate for my clients. I also used to work as a defense attorney, and my time as one has made me a better plaintiff's attorney, as I can evaluate both the positives and negatives of my client's cases as a result.
What is the most rewarding aspect of your job?
Working with people and helping them during difficult times in their lives. I went into the legal field because I wanted to help people, and my job helps me fulfill this purpose. It is very rewarding when I learn that my clients have received fair settlements after all the difficulty they have experienced.
What are your other interests in addition to law?
Walking and hiking, reading, cooking, and traveling.
Are you involved in your community?
Yes, I am actively involved in my kids' schools as a volunteer and an active member of the parent associations.
