About Anokye

Anokye Soyini Blissett, Esq was born to Jamaican parents who immigrated to the United States in the 1960s. She and her three sisters were raised in Freeport, New York, a small town on the south shore of Long Island. Anokye’s parents recognized her strengths very early and by the time she graduated high school at the age of 16, and in the top 10 of her class, her academic prowess was clear to everyone else too.

It was therefore no surprise when in 1999, Anokye was accepted to the elite Sophie Davis School of Biomedical Education at City College of the City University of New York to purse a career in medicine. About two years later, she changed programs and decided to pursue a Bachelor’s Degree in Economics. In 2003, she was awarded a full scholarship to St. John’s University’s prestigious law school. She eagerly finished the program in 2.5 years and in February 2006 took and passed the New York State Bar Exam. Anokye was subsequently hired by George Russo & Associates as the only Associate Attorney in his very popular Real Estate boutique Law Firm in Queens, New York.

Never one to be satisfied with doing one thing, several years later Anokye decided it was time to add immigration law to her repertoire, and give the residents of Queens an immigration law firm they could trust. In 2010, she and George Russo, Esq formed a partnership and opened, The Law Firm of Russo & Blissett, PLLC.

It has not taken long for The Law Firm of Russo & Blissett, PLLC to become a well known and respected immigration firm, especially in the Richmond Hill and Ozone Park areas of Queens. The same zeal that Anokye demonstrated throughout her life has made her a vigorous, caring advocate for her clients, truly dedicated to their success and well-being. The Law Firm of Russo & Blissett, PLLC and has proudly helped many families reunite and achieve the dream of becoming lawful residents and citizens of the United States, and doing as her parents did so many years ago, taking the first steps to making a better life for their family.

Recently, her tremendous efforts were recognized by the Queens Courier, when she was honored with the 2013 Rising Star Award.
