Questions & Answers
Please describe a case in the last year or two where you made a big difference.
I have seen insurance companies deny injury claims that are clearly legitimate. In the past couple of years, I am proud to say that I have fought these cases, put them in front of a judge, and won. There is no greater achievement, for an injury attorney, than getting your clients the money they need to move on with life after a serious injury.
How did you build a successful practice?
Always be up-front with a client. Sometimes the truth isn't what we want it to be. Whether its the amount of time it takes to get to trial or whether its the fact that the other side gets to ask personal questions, a successful practice hinges on helping the client understand the legal process.
What should clients look for in a lawyer?
Client-orient goals. This is the most important thing for a client to look for. An attorney's job is to help the client get what they want, and what they deserve. A good lawyer will listen, offer advice, and explain.
How important is local knowledge to the success of your cases?
Hugely. The alternative to settlement is a trial. That probably means a jury will hear your case if it doesn't settle. If you aren't willing and able to go to trial, a settlement suffers. Local lawyers will likely be more familiar with local laws, rules, and community standards & beliefs.
What information can you provide in a free phone consultation?
A free phone consultation offers a quick analysis of the facts of a case to determine whether it is could be worth pursuing. Not every case justifies a lawsuit. By the same token, that does not mean that you don't have rights. A consult can also help a person learn more about their legal rights.
What information do you need in a free phone consultation?
For injury cases, it's important to know what happened, who was involved, where it happened, and how a person has been affected. This allows the attorney to make an assessment of the merits and advise a client of their possible rights and options for pursuing those rights.
What differentiates you from other lawyers in your community?
When I was a young man, a loved one was injured by the careless neglect another. This experience taught me the difference an experience attorney can make when the chips are down. It was at this point that I knew I would work with the law, to help others recover when they suffer harm at the hands of a bad actor.
What is the most rewarding aspect of your job?
The clients. There is nothing better than seeing a client taking control of their life after a serious injury. We can't take away the pain and loss caused by serious injuries, but we can help a person move on with life by putting the best possible foot forward.
What are your other interests in addition to law?
Old cars, motorcycles, bicycling, and - of course- my family.
Are you involved in your community?
I donate, every month, to Save the Children. This organization feeds and educates children around the world. No child should ever go hungry and I am fortunate enough to have the means to help.
