Mr. Boyer received his Bachelor of Arts in Economics cum laude from UCLA in 1975 and his Juris Doctor from the University of San Diego in 1980. He has been licensed to practice law in Illinois since 1980 and in the United States District Court of the Northern District of Illinois, where he is a member of the Federal Trial Bar. He is also licensed to appear before the United States Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals.

Mr. Boyer is a member of the Illinois Trial Lawyers Association, where he serves on the Amicus committee. His memberships also include the American Trial Lawyers Association, the Illinois State Bar Association and the Chicago Bar Association.

Mr. Boyer has negotiated settlements and won judgments for people who have suffered injuries as varied as brain damage, spinal injuries, loss of limbs, quadriplegia and death. He has represented people injured by defective products such as automobile seat belts, automatic transmissions and utility vehicle rollovers caused by defective design. He has also represented people severely injured through hospital and medical negligence.
