About Arthur
Art Karstaedt has been licensed in Colorado since 1976 and is one of the firm's six founding shareholders. He currently manages the firm and has an active litigation practice.
His caseload concerns complex litigation involving insurance coverage and insurance bad faith disputes, environmental/toxic tort matters and construction defect litigation. In addition, he has a broad range of litigation and insurance coverage experience representing:
- Insurance companies in litigation and in administrative hearings before the Division of Insurance
- Employers in litigation and in administrative proceedings before the State Civil Rights Division
- Generators of hazardous wastes, managers of storage facilities for toxic substances, insurers from whom environmental coverage is sought and parties being pursued for superfund liability, property damage and personal injury
- Numerous governmental entities, including local housing authorities, boards of county commissioners, and Colorado State agencies
Mr. Karstaedt has tried a variety of products liability, environmental, toxic tort, discrimination and insurance bad faith cases since the Firm's formation in 1994. In 2001, he obtained a defense verdict after a seven week trial brought by 41 plaintiffs alleging brain and respiratory injuries as well as increased susceptibility to cancer in the trial of a $6 million tort case in Pueblo, Colorado concerning air borne toxins. His extensive background in providing and performing coverage and pre-litigation opinions, evaluating cases, and apportioning liability and responsibility is key to the firm's commitment to the efficient delivery of quality legal services.
