Vinny Iyer has always had a desire to learn a variety of different subjects, and has always had a passion for justice; both of these traits led him to the practice of law. Vinny went to Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska where he received his Bachelor of Arts. While at Creighton, Vinny majored in music performance and theory, co-majored in political science, and completed the pre-medical program. After Creighton, Vinny attended the University of Nebraska – Omaha to study music composition where he learned counterpoint, orchestration, and advanced music theory. During this time, Vinny also played with his band while teaching music theory and guitar lessons. Eventually, Vinny’s passion lead him to the University of Nebraska – Lincoln College of Law where he received his Juris Doctorate. Additionally, Vinny completed the litigation skills program of concentrated study with a criminal emphasis. While enrolled in law school, Vinny Iyer served as a clerk with Atwood, Holsten, Brown, Deaver and Spier Law Firm. In this role, he primarily handled personal injury and workers’ compensation cases, which would later become his focus at Falgien Warr & Iyer, P.C. Upon graduating from law school, he worked as a senior analyst contract attorney, auditing foreclosure and mortgage procedures for a multinational bank. He then represented clients through his own contract defense firm and at Clear Creek Consulting, wherein he helped individuals and businesses resolve tax liabilities with Federal and State taxing authorities. Subsequently, Vinny was hired as an attorney at The Law Offices of Dianne Sawaya, LLC where he focused on personal injury cases. Vinny is a founding partner of Falgien, Warr & Iyer, P.C. where his primary focus is on personal injury and workers’ compensation cases. Kyle Bachus won his first argument in front of the state supreme court when he was only 17 years old. As a junior in high school, Kyle attended a Florida state legislation day for Florida high school students. As part of the day’s activities, he was selected to argue a predetermined topic in front of a panel of licensed lawyers sitting on a mock supreme court. He was provided with appropriate documentation, and tasked with researching and preparing his argument. Selected as one of the best presenters of the day statewide, he was both surprised and inspired. Once he decided on a career in law, there was no stopping him. The determination his opponents see in the courtroom today was nurtured in college, where he dedicated himself to excelling. Once he graduated with his Juris Doctor degree from the University of Florida College of Law, he began work the Monday after graduation in a plaintiff’s personal injury law firm, a natural fit for a man who had always identified with the underdog. Peter Menges received his Juris Doctorate from the University of Colorado School of Law in 1997. He also received a Bachelors of Business Administration from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst in 1997, where he graduated cum laude. Mr. Menges spent his first five years of practice as a Trial Attorney with the Denver Office of The Office of the Colorado Public Defender. Mr. Menges opened The Law Office of Peter D. Menges, P.C. in January of 2003 and has been exclusively in private practice ever since. Mr. Menges has extensive trial experience. Mr. Menges has personally handled over a hundred trials. He has tried cases in Federal District Court, Colorado State District Court in numerous jurisdictions, County Court cases in numerous jurisdictions, Municipal Court matters in numerous jurisdictions, and Administrative Hearings in a number of forums. He does pro bono work for those in need, and in 2004 was awarded the Colorado Lawyers’ Committee’s Community Contribution Award for his work fighting to secure the release of a formerly mentally ill patient who had been indefinitely committed to the Colorado Mental Health Institute after a “not guilty by reason of insanity” commitment.

Mike Thomson joined Purvis Thomson, LLP in the fall of 2001. Since then, he has represented people injured as a result of the actions of others in a variety of civil lawsuits. Mike does a significant amount of pro bono work. He grew up in the northwest suburbs of Chicago, graduating from Elk Grove High School in 1984. He is the oldest of 10 children. He graduated from Central Michigan University in 1991 summa cum laude with a bachelor’s of science degree in accounting. His love for the mountains brought him to Boulder, Colorado where he attended law school. Mike Thomson graduated from the University of Colorado School of Law in 1994. He is married to Teresa Steele Thomson, a retired principal from Denver Public Schools. They have six adult children and seven grand-children. He and his wife live in Denver. Mike regularly meets with clients in both Boulder and Denver offices for Purvis Thomson, LLP. After graduating from law school, Mike worked as a political consultant in the state of Colorado for candidates for U.S. Senate, House of Representatives, State Legislature, District Attorney, and local school board. From January 1999 thru June 2000, Mike Thomson was the Director of Community Relations and Lobbyist for the Boulder Valley School District. During his tenure with the school district, the Daily Camera in an editorial once referred to him as “The ambassador for our schools.” Just as he was a strong advocate for the students of Boulder Valley School District, he is now a strong advocate for his clients and their rights. Mike has spent his entire legal career working with John Purvis and Bill Gray (a now retired former partner in the firm), working for them as a law clerk while he was in law school and then returning to the firm as an associate attorney in 2001. Mike coached girls’ competitive fastpitch softball for nearly a decade. Mike loves hanging out with his beautiful wife, rooting for his beloved Chicago sports teams (the White Sox, Bears, Blackhawks, and Bulls) and Denver teams, playing the guitar, and singing classic rock and folk songs.

Alan C. Shafner was born and raised in Denver, Colorado. He graduated from the University of Colorado with Distinction in 1975, and received his law degree from The Houston College of Law, Houston, Texas in 1978. After graduating from law school, Alan was a trial attorney for the Jefferson County District Attorney’s Office in Golden, Colorado from 1979 through June 1983. During this time, Alan was the lead prosecutor on several high profile felony cases, including murder and sexual assault cases. In 1983, Alan joined the law firm of Fogel, Keating and Wagner as an associate, and later became a named partner. After 28 successful years, Alan opened his own personal injury law firm.
