About Audrey
Ms. Skiera concentrates her practice in Estate Planning, Estate Administration, Elder Law and Taxation. She has represented a variety of clients that include individuals, business owners, executives, and high net worth families. She has counseled clients with concerns ranging from providing a guardian and trusts for minor children, professionals planning with stock options and significant retirement benefits, succession planning for small and mid-sized business owners, and individuals with charitable intentions. Her engagements focus not only on the client's personal goals but also address the underlying income and estate tax issues. Her custom estate plan designs range from simple to complex, including the drafting of revocable living trusts, irrevocable trusts, grantor retained annuity trusts, charitable remainder trusts, family limited partnerships, and business succession plans.
She also has experience in estate administration and works closely with fiduciaries and beneficiaries, as the case may be, to ensure the administration process is smooth, timely, and upholds the wishes of the plan executed by the decedent.
As co-chair of the firm's Elder Law Group, she also counsels on issues of special concern for elderly clients, some of which include long term care planning, appointment of healthcare agents and directives, dealing with diminished capacity, and government benefits for the aged and disabled.
While in law school, she served as the Executive Editor of the Loyola Consumer Law Review. She also studied international law and international business transactions in Rome, Italy. Prior to attending law school, Ms. Skiera worked as an operations and strategy consultant for a bank and trust company.
In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her family, traveling and running. She has completed marathons, half marathons, and many 5Ks. Recently, she partnered with the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society to fund raise and run in the 2009 Chicago Marathon.
