Questions & Answers
Please describe a case in the last year or two where you made a big difference.
We have success in subtle ways every day. For example, in protecting clients from being sued or harassed if they cannot use or afford their timeshare. Sometimes, success comes in big, obvious ways. For example, arbitrating in California, we collected a $100,000 award on behalf of some timeshare owners who had been deceived into purchasing points of access as an 'investment'. The arbitrator found that the timeshare developer had intentionally misled our clients in a number of ways.
What should clients look for in a lawyer?
The most important traits in a good attorney are honesty and integrity. Integrity implies hard work and professionalism. Because we often work remotely via email and phone, effective communication with our clients is at a premium. Also, it doesn't hurt to have over fifty years of combined legal experience among out attorneys.
How important is local knowledge to the success of your cases?
Obviously, you have to know what you're doing. Again, our attorneys have decades of combined legal experience. You don't stay in practice that long without learning a thing or two.
What information can you provide in a free phone consultation?
We are able to provide all the information that a prospective client should need to make a reasonably informed decision. The objective is not to tell the client whatever she may want to hear to sign on with us, but to educate the client, manager her expectations, and clearly outline the objectives of the representation.
What information do you need in a free phone consultation?
We do exclusively timeshare law. So typically we need the identity of the timeshare developer, including sales people, the facts and circumstances of the sales transaction, and the subsequent history of the case involving expenses and attempts to make reservations.
What differentiates you from other lawyers in your community?
Although there are many companies who masquerade as timeshare 'exit' teams, there are very few actual law firms that practice timeshare law. If you're not willing and able to sue or defend a client in court, what possible leverage can you create in the negotiation process? How can you vindicate his rights?
What is the most rewarding aspect of your job?
It's always about the gratitude of the client. A happy, satisfied client with good things to say about you makes it all worthwhile.
What are your other interests in addition to law?
I love reading, travelling, and spending time with my family.
Are you involved in your community?
I am. I especially like writing articles and editorial letters addressing the issues of the day.
