Please describe a case in the last year or two where you made a big difference.
Among the many cases where I believe I made a big difference are the hundreds of pharmaceutical and product liability cases where my clients literally would've been crushed in the system by powerful corporations and their endless pockets to pay for teams of lawyers. Perhaps the most satisfying part of my job has been giving a voice to victims of defective products who would've been voiceless.
How did you build a successful practice?
I built my practice by keeping my focus on my clients, one client at a time, and remembering that each case that I handle, large or small, makes a difference in my client's life. I also have concentrated on developing tools inside and outside the courtroom. Ultimately, a powerful corporation does not focus on how they can beat a case in court - they just focus on how they can beat a case - inside or outside of the courtroom.
What should clients look for in a lawyer?
I believe that what clients should look for in a lawyer is relatively simple. The challenge is finding a lawyer that has those simple qualities. Generally, a client should look for a lawyer who is (1) responsive and attentive; (2) understands the client's case; and (3) has the skills- both in and out of the courtroom - to obtain the best result for the client.
How important is local knowledge to the success of your cases?
Local knowledge is extremely important. A lawyer who is local is familiar with local procedures, trends, and what judges, opposing lawyers, and the courts expect. This allows a local lawyer to move forward a client's case with greater efficiency and obtain the best result.
What information can you provide in a free phone consultation?
On a free consultation, we can provide a general assessment of the case. It is really dependent on the amount of information and documentation that our prospective client makes available to us.
What information do you need in a free phone consultation?
On a phone consultation, we need as much of the facts and evidence as possible. Typically, it would be ideal if we were provided by email or otherwise, all of the relevant documentation.
What differentiates you from other lawyers in your community?
To us, a client is not a case or a commodity - a client is a person who has suffered harm and either has been, or is about to be thrust into a legal system which they do not completely understand. We consider our job is to stand by our client, vigorously protect their rights, and obtain the best result for them.
