He has been practicing in Acton for over twenty years and has twenty-five years of experience practicing family law. He represents individual clients, is an experienced mediator, and also practices Collaborative Law. He obtained his Bachelor of Arts from Brandeis University in 1973 and his law degree from Suffolk University Law School in 1979. He also holds a Master's of Education in Counseling from Boston State College, which he received in 1976.
Barry is a Fellow of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers, an organization of family law attorneys who are recognized by judges and colleagues as expert practitioners. The Academy's purpose is "to encourage the study, improve the practice, elevate the standards and advance the cause of matrimonial law, to the end that the welfare of the family and society be protected." Barry is also a member of The Massachusetts Probate and Family Inn of Court, whose mission is "to foster excellence in professionalism, ethics, civility, and legal skills for judges, lawyers, academians, and students of the law in order to perfect the quality, availability, and efficiency of justice in the United States."
Several times each year Barry teaches seminars and information sessions at various centers for adult education, including Acton-Boxborough, Concord, Harvard, and Littleton. He is involved in community and civic activities in the Town of Boxborough and through the Middlesex West Chamber of Commerce.
