Michael E. Mazon Lawyer
Location
4800 Aurora Ave N Seattle, WA 98103

Accident & Injury

I was born and raised in Seattle, and am pleased to practice in our great Pacific Northwest. This is my home. I graduated from law school in 1984 and went to work for the Whatcom County Prosecuting Attorney's Office. This provided an opportunity to develop trial skills and the ability to present cases to judges and juries. From 1986-1990, I was the managing attorney for the main Seattle Office for Hyatt Legal Services. This position provided an opportunity to analyze and solve various issues that confront a general practice such as: Domestic Relations, Criminal Defense, Bankruptcy, Real Estate, Wills, and miscellaneous consumer matters. It also provided many opportunities to practice in State and Federal court. From 1990-97, I was an insurance defense attorney for the Seattle law firm of Alexander & Bierman. For several years, I defended hundreds of cases on the insurance company's behalf. I know how insurance companies value claims and the techniques they employ in an effort to detract from the value of a claim. In 1997, I opened my own law practice. I specialize in representing people injured by the negligence of others against the insurance company. Let me use my experience from years of defending the insurance company to your advantage. Michael E. Mazon Attorney At Law Lawyer.com Member Questionnaire Please describe a case(s) in the last year or two where you made a big difference. I had a case against a prominent hotel in the pacific northwest. The hotel itself was brand new and was celebrating its grand opening. My client fell on the stairwell within the hotel and incurred severe injuries. Others had previously been injured. by this stairwell. I brought suit and was able to obtain reasonable compensation for my client. The hotel completely reconfigured that part of the stairwell in question. How did you build a successful practice? I built a successful pracitce by focusing on one client at a time. What should clients look for in a lawyer? Ultimately, a client should look for a lawyer that is well versed in their specific field of practice. In other words, if a client has an injury claim, they want a lawyer that has dealt with that type of injury and the accident that caused it. It's kind of like choosing a doctor. How important is local knowledge to the success of your cases? Local knowledge is important if the case goes to litigation. For example, an attorney should have knowledge of the local rules in the county where the case has been filed. What information can you provide in a free phone consultation? I can provide all the information in a telephone consultation that I could in a live in-office consultation. I can educate the client in all aspects of the injury case starting with the claims phase all the way through a jury trial. What information do you need in a free phone consultation? Just the basics: date of the accident, location, liability, insurance, and type of injury. What differentiates you from other lawyers in your community? The fact that I had 8 years of experience defending the insurance company before I began representing the injured person against the insurance company. I can anticipate what the insurance company will do. I know their tactics and the tricks they attempt to pull. What is the most rewarding aspect of your job? Obtaining reasonable compensation for my client. Ultimately, that's all any personal injury attorney can do for their client. What are your other interests in addition to law? Music, travel, golf, family. Are you involved in your community? I'm a member of the Washington State Association for Justice and actively contribute to the American Cancer Society.

Decades of King County Courtroom Experience Jason and his team have been handling King County DUI defense, criminal defense, and traffic ticket cases for decades. Over that time, our attorneys have appeared in virtually every courtroom in the county, and that depth of local experience translates directly into better outcomes for our clients. We know the deputy prosecutors. We know the commissioners and the judges. We know the informal customs of each courthouse, what arguments work, what mitigation packages the bench expects, and how to move a case efficiently toward the best available result. Our attorneys regularly appear in all King County District Courts, including the Seattle Courthouse (West Division), the Shoreline Courthouse (West Division), the Bellevue Courthouse (East Division), the Issaquah Courthouse (East Division), the Redmond Courthouse (East Division), the Burien Courthouse (South Division), and the Maleng Regional Justice Center in Kent (South Division). We also appear in all King County Municipal Courts, including Seattle Municipal Court, Auburn Municipal Court, Bellevue Municipal Court, Black Diamond Municipal Court, Bothell Municipal Court, Des Moines Municipal Court, Enumclaw Municipal Court, Federal Way Municipal Court, Issaquah Municipal Court, Kent Municipal Court, Kirkland Municipal Court, Lake Forest Park Municipal Court, Maple Valley Municipal Court, Mercer Island Municipal Court, Normandy Park Municipal Court, Redmond Municipal Court, Renton Municipal Court, SeaTac Municipal Court, and Tukwila Municipal Court. Serious criminal matters, including felony cases, are heard in King County Superior Court in Seattle and at the Maleng Regional Justice Center in Kent, where our attorneys also regularly appear. DUI Defense in Seattle and King County DUI defense has been a cornerstone of Jason's practice since he tried his first DUI case as a prosecutor in 1996. That former prosecutor perspective, combined with decades on the defense side, gives Jason an edge that most defense attorneys simply cannot match. Every Seattle area DUI case has multiple fronts of attack. Was the stop supported by reasonable suspicion? Were the field sobriety tests administered according to NHTSA protocols? Was the Draeger Alcotest 9510 breath test machine properly calibrated, was the operator currently certified, and was the fifteen minute observation period actually conducted? The Draeger has been the subject of serious, sustained scientific and legal challenges by Washington defense attorneys, including source code review findings about breath temperature correction and fuel cell degradation. One urgent point: if you have been arrested for DUI, you have only seven days from the date of arrest to request a Department of Licensing administrative hearing to protect your driver's license. Call (844) 925-2943 right away so we can protect your license while we build your defense. Seattle Criminal Defense A criminal charge affects employment, housing, professional licensing, immigration status, and peace of mind. Our Seattle criminal defense team handles the full range of King County misdemeanors and felonies, including assault, domestic violence, theft, drug possession, harassment, malicious mischief, hit and run, reckless driving, no contact order violations, and minor in possession. We begin every case with a close review of the evidence and push hard for dismissal, suppression, or acquittal where the facts support it, and for reduced charges or diversion when a negotiated resolution is the best path. Seattle Area Traffic Ticket Defense Paying a traffic ticket is a guilty finding that follows your driving record and drives up insurance premiums for years. Before you mail that check, talk to us. Our attorneys fight speeding tickets, school zone and construction zone tickets, negligent driving, red light and stop sign violations, HOV violations, following too closely, unsafe lane changes, and no insurance citations throughout Seattle and King County. A short call could save you thousands. Call Us Today Call (844) 925-2943 for a free consultation, or visit www.washingtonstateattorneys.com. We are ready to fight for you.
