About Bernard

A member of the firm, Bernard Christianson has practiced exclusively in the area of divorce and family law since 1987. Bernie has successfully represented clients in virtually every type of matrimonial matter, from contested custody cases to disputes over the valuation and division of family businesses, real estate, and pensions. He has represented university professors, political leaders, business owners, corporate executives, physicians, other lawyers, teachers, firemen, police officers, construction workers, and their spouses. He has been frequently appointed by the court to represent the interests of children in disputed custody and visitation cases.

Bernie has been recognized for excellence and experience by other lawyers and judges. He serves as Special Master for matrimonial disputes in Connecticut courts, and as Special Master in the Regional Trial Docket for family matters in Middletown, Connecticut. He also has served as an arbitrator and mediator in family matters.

Before receiving his law degree from the University of Connecticut School of Law in 1987, Bernie was employed for fourteen years as the supervisor of the Family Relations Division of the Superior Court in New Haven. Bernie also has earned a masters degree in English from the University of Rhode Island, and a master’s degree in counseling from Southern Connecticut State University.

Bernie is a member of the New Haven County Bar Association, the American Bar Association, the Connecticut Trial Lawyers Association and the American Association for Justice.
