Over the course of more than twenty years, I have continued to represent individuals and businesses in state and federal courts. I have tried cases in Washington, D.C., Maryland, Florida and West Virginia, and have represented my clients’ interests in the courts of Virginia and Delaware. I have prosecuted numerous severe injury claims and wrongful death suits and have litigated hundreds of claims representing victims of asbestos exposure. I am proud to have served as co-counsel in what is believed to be the largest individual asbestos settlement in the District of Columbia, and to have obtained tens of millions of dollars in awards and settlements for our clients. I also routinely represent business clients in commercial disputes including breach of contract cases, brokerage disputes, and litigation involving real estate. Business cases occasionally require arbitration, and I have many years of experience in the arbitration of claims under both the American Arbitration Association guidelines and JAMS rules. I previously served on the Board of Directors of the Gift of Life Bone Marrow Foundation and served as Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, National Capital Area. My wife and I have lived in Bethesda for more than 20 years, and our children attended the local public schools. When we are not spending time enjoying our immediate community, we love to travel and explore.

Steve, originally from Baltimore, holds a JD and an MBA in Finance from the University of Maryland. In addition to advanced degrees, Steve has completed several training programs on representing taxpayers before the IRS including earning the NTPI Tax Fellow® and Certified Tax Resolution Specialist (CTRS) designations. Before becoming the Managing Partner of Cromwell & Company, Steve was the Controller for NFR Security, Inc. As a key member of the management team, he contributed to the success of completing the sale of NFR Security to Check Point Software Technologies, Ltd., (Ticker CHKP) and the post-integration support of the two companies. Prior to that, he held controller positions with other high tech firms in the Baltimore Washington corridor and a senior analyst position in the treasury department of ICMA Retirement Corporation in downtown DC. Steve has significant experience in tax preparation, representing clients before the IRS, auditing, business valuation, and investment advisory. Occasionally when time permits, Steve has taught accounting courses at local universities and community colleges in the DC Metro area. In his free time, Steve enjoys being outdoors running, hiking, and biking. On Saturday afternoons in the fall, you can find Steve at University of Maryland football games cheering on the Maryland Terrapins.

Keith graduated from SUNY Binghamton in 1989 with a B.A. in Political Science. Keith obtained his J.D. from American University, The Washington College of Law in 1992. Keith was admitted to practice in the State of Maryland in 1992 and the District of Columbia in 1993. In addition to being admitted to practice before the local courts in the State of Maryland and the District of Columbia, Keith is admitted to practice before the United States District Court for the District of Maryland, the United States Circuit Court for the Fourth Circuit, the United States District Court for the District of Columbia and the United States Circuit Court for the District of Columbia.

Attorney Korteling has over 20 years experience representing clients in transactional and litigation matters, offering small firm attention with large firm resources.

Prior to joining Scrofano Law PC, Ms. Gnocchi was a solo practitioner who specialized in criminal and DUI defense for 14 years. Prior to that Mr. Gnocchi worked at a law firm in Maryland and began his career as an Assistant States Attorney in Baltimore City. During his time as a solo practitioner, he represented thousands of individuals charged with crimes in Maryland and the District of Columbia in a variety of offenses ranging from traffic offenses to serious violent felonies. In 2023, he joined Scrofano Law PC as a Trial Attorney and started the firm’s Maryland Practice. He is licensed to practice in the District of Columbia and Maryland. He is an active member of the Montgomery County Bar Association, the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, and the National College for DUI Defense as well as the DUI Defense Lawyer’s Association. Mr. Gnocchi is a native Spanish speaker and fluent in both English and Spanish and has over 20 years experience in criminal law.

Mr. Lipshutz is responsible for managing the firm’s personal injury and catastrophic injury practice. He has been enormously successful in representing victims of car accidents, truck accidents, nursing home abuse and defective products, having recovered millions of dollars in jury verdicts and settlements for the firm’s clients. He also handles a select number of business litigation and employment matters. Upon entering private practice in 1994, Mr. Lipshutz worked as an attorney for a law firm handling insurance defense matters giving him unique insight and experience into the handling of personal injury matters from both the defendant’s and plaintiff’s perspectives. Since 1998 Mr. Lipshutz who is admitted in Maryland, DC, and Florida has handled cases exclusively for the injured victims in personal injury matters.
