Questions & Answers

Please describe a case in the last year or two where you made a big difference.

I represented a couple who had been caring for two young children for over five years. The mother and father had abandoned the children. The mother suddenly appeared and demanded custody of the children. When my clients refused, she called the police. Recognizing the situation, the police refused to force my client to turn over the children. We filed an emergency petition for custody and my clients were awarded temporary custody. Ultimately, my clients were awarded legal and physical custody of the children.

How did you build a successful practice?

I started my practice in 1995 with a semi-full bankers box of files from a small law firm at which I worked. From the beginning, I have had a commitment to a client centered approach to the practice of law. By focusing on the needs of my clients, I am able to evaluate their situation holistically and come up with the plan that best serves the needs of my clients.

What should clients look for in a lawyer?

Someone who is going to give it to them straight. The last thing a client wants, or deserves, is a lawyer who makes promises that the lawyer cannot deliver.

How important is local knowledge to the success of your cases?

A knowledge of the bench and, more importantly, the bench's knowledge of a lawyer is critical. If a judge knows that a lawyer is honest and forthright with the bench, he or she is going to give more weight to the arguments and representations of that lawyer.

What information can you provide in a free phone consultation?

Whether we handle that type of matter. If we do not, I try to refer the person to another lawyer with a solid reputation. The amount of the initial retainer.

What information do you need in a free phone consultation?

A brief explanation of the situation.

What differentiates you from other lawyers in your community?

We provide excellent service for a reasonable fee. As someone who has been practicing for over 28 years, I have handled a wide variety of matters and my clients benefit from that breadth of experience.

What is the most rewarding aspect of your job?

I enjoy helping people work through a difficult and sometimes the most difficult problems that they will face in their lives.

What are your other interests in addition to law?

I enjoy travelling, hiking, and attending sports events.

Are you involved in your community?

I have coached many youth sports teams.
