Ms. Malik focuses her practice on a broad range of health law issues. She counsels and represents health care providers regarding regulatory and compliance issues; patient rights' issues; ancillary provider and managed care agreements; Medicare, Medicaid and third party reimbursement; fraud and abuse issues; and surveillance and enforcement matters. She also handles appeals before the Department of Health and Human Services Departmental Appeals Board.

Ms. Malik represents health providers in judicial proceedings on treatment and health care decision-making for incapacitated patients and participates in ethics committee proceedings. She develops and implements corporate compliance and HIPAA compliance programs for nursing homes and other health care providers. She counsels physicians on employment, licensure and compliance issues, as well as advises them on how to structure their business arrangements so as to be in compliance with the self-referral, fraud and abuse laws. In addition, Ms. Malik also represents physicians, pharmacies, and other health care providers on Medicare, DMERC and Medicaid overpayment audits and exclusion proceedings.

Ms. Malik has substantial experience and skill representing nursing facilities at administrative and judicial proceedings at all levels involving challenges to various regulations and statutes. On behalf of nursing home clients, Ms. Malik has commenced guardianship proceedings as well as handled business disputes. She also handles commercial litigation.

She has been a presenter at industry associations, including New York State Health Facilities Association, American Association of Physicians of Indian Origin (AAPI), New York State Bar Association's Long Term Care Section, and the Hospital and Health Law Committee of the Nassau County Bar Association. She is a member of the New York State Bar Association's Health Law Section and the American Health Lawyers Association and is a charter member of the Rotary Club of Gold Coast/Lake Success.

Ms. Malik received her B.A. from the State University of New York at Binghamton and her J.D. from Hofstra University School of Law, where she was the Notes and Comments Editor of the Labor Law Journal. Ms. Malik is admitted to practice in New York, New Jersey, the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit, and the United States District Courts for the Eastern and Southern Districts of New York and the District of New Jersey.
