Mr. Schreiber is a former police officer and graduate of the USD School of Law (1988). He served as a law clerk in the First Judicial Circuit in 1988-1989 and as a law clerk to the South Dakota Supreme Court in 1989-1990 before entering into private practice. Mr. Schreiber formerly served on the South Dakota State Bar Board of Bar Commissions, is past president of the South Dakota Trial Lawyers Association, a member of the South Dakota Association of Criminal Defense Law, and a member of National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers and National College of DUI Defense. Mr. Schreiber has over 25 years of trial experience. Seven years ago he created and developed a listserv in South Dakota dedicated exclusively to the education and development of trial strategies in criminal law. The listserv was created exclusively for criminal defense lawyers.

Please describe a case in the last year or two where you made a big difference.

I try a lot of cases from murder to DUI in both Federal court and State court. My reputation is that I actually go to trial.

How did you build a successful practice?

Honesty about their case, no sugar coating. A lawyer with the guts to go to trial.

What should clients look for in a lawyer?

It can be very helpful. Just knowing people is having contacts to get information is beneficial.

How important is local knowledge to the success of your cases?

Almost anything short of giving actual legal advice with the exception of telling people immediately to exercise their right to remain silent.

Contact informatiwon, have they received any legal paperwork, status of dispute, claim or charges prior to calling me.

What information do you need in a free phone consultation?

I travel all over south Dakota. I have tried cases in the 4 corners of SD. I have been in practice 30+ years. I am at work by 630am, work Saturdays and answer email until I go to bed at night.

What differentiates you from other lawyers in your community?

Getting the right result for the right reasons; Justice, as my email address implies. Being a 2nd Amendment advocate.

What is the most rewarding aspect of your job?

Working with retired military men and women and those still serving. I would do about anything for them.

What are your other interests in addition to law?

Being with my family. Running off with my fabulous wife. Almost anything that has to do with the outdoors.

Are you involved in your community?

Yes, mostly in my church. I teach a Bible study and play guitar in our worship group.
