QUESTIONNAIRE
In the summer of 2013 I was hired by a father to represent him in a custody case where his 10 year old son had been diagnosed with leukemia. The child had to undergo an extreme amount of chemotherapy to survive the leukemia. The chemotherapy depleted his immune system and the Doctor maintained that any exposure to germs could be life threatening both during and for a few months after the treatments. For some reason, which i still do not completely understand, the mother of the child did not take the Doctors warnings seriously and constantly exposed the child to environments which were potentially hazardous to his health. Fortunately we were able to get the court to award custody to my client and place many important restrictions on the mother and her visitation schedule. Now, nine months later, the child is recovering and doing wonderful. This has been one of my proudest moments as an attorney.
What should clients look for in a lawyer?Clients should look for a lawyer who has a lot of experience in the practice area in which the client's needs exist. Also, comfort with a lawyer's staff is very important as lawyer's are frequently in court.
How important is local knowledge to the success of your cases?Knowledge of local judges is very important when assessing a case. Often judges have wide discretion in how they rule on various matters. Knowing a judge's tendencies in certain situations can help the client when they are deciding to settle a case or to take the case to trial.
What information can you provide in a free phone consultation?I provide a free 30 minute phone or in person consultation and will discuss any issues the potential client would like to discuss with me.
What is the most rewarding aspect of your job?The most rewarding aspect of my job is seeing a case to completion and knowing that i helped someone through a troubling and stressful period in their life.
What are your other interests in addition to law?I am the father of young twin boys. Being involved in their lives and helping coach their sporting endeavors is where i spend most of my time outside of the office. I believe parenthood to be a duty an honor and a privilege.
