About Scott
He has been developing the skills needed to be a criminal defense attorney since he started law school. Scott focused two of his three years in Law School on trial advocacy and courtroom strategy. He received numerous awards from Syracuse University College of Law in the area of trial advocacy. After graduating from law school, Scott spent some time at the Stanley Law Offices continuing to develop his courtroom skills.
He soon joined the Onondaga County District Attorney’s Office as an Assistant District Attorney. Scott handled all types of criminal matters at various stages from investigation to arrest and from arraignment to disposition. A significant portion of his time as a prosecutor was spent handling felony cases in the Felony Trial Unit where he prosecuted violent felony offenses including:
Assaults
Burglaries
Robberies
Weapons possession
Scott conducted several trials and prosecuted numerous repeat offenders facing mandatory life sentences. In addition to the unit he was assigned to, Scott had the opportunity to work on cases involving drugs, homicide, and DWI. During his time with the Onondaga County District Attorney’s Office Scott learned the principles of a criminal investigation, the techniques of criminal prosecution, and strategies for sentence mitigation.
Since leaving the Onondaga County District Attorney’s Office Scott has specialized in defending criminal cases. He has devoted the skills and experience he gained to getting the best outcome possible for his clients. Not only with regards to the arrest and prosecution but also in handling the collateral consequences of an arrest or conviction.
