About Brent
Mr. Seymour was born and grew up in Sarnia, Ontario, Canada, on the shores of Lake Huron. He attended Queen's University in Kingston, Ontario, graduating in 1975 with a B.A. in Economics. Following graduation he worked as a consultant for an economic forecasting firm and later as a systems designer for a software firm. Those jobs brought him to California in the early 1980's, where he returned to school to study law, graduating from the University of San Francisco, School of Law (cum laude) in 1990.
Initially Mr. Seymour worked for two of the largest firms in the state in their litigation practices, before deciding that he preferred the more personal challenges of family law. His practice has involved all aspects of family law and in particular, complex financial issues that arise in high asset dissolutions. Of particular interest to Mr. Seymour are matters involving international custody and jurisdiction issues under the Hague Convention and UCCJEA.
Mr. Seymour is a member of several local bar associations, as well as the Association for Family and Conciliation Courts, an international organization of attorneys, mental health professionals, and court personnel, specializing particularly in issues affecting children during divorce.
Brent D. Seymour is a certified Family Law Specialist by the State Bar of California Board of Legal Specialization.
