About Brian
Brian Nomi was born in Oxnard at the old St. John's Hospital and moved to Camarillo in 1979. He graduated from Rio Mesa High School, the University of California, Santa Barbara (BA 1990), and the University of Minnesota Law School (JD 1993, magna cum laude, Order of the Coif, Associate Editor, Minnesota Law Review).
From 1993 to 1994 he served as a law clerk to the Honorable Andrew J. Kleinfeld of the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. Mr. Nomi was admitted to the Washington State Bar in 1993, the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit in 1994, and the California State Bar in 1999. He is admitted to all State and Federal Courts in California. He is currently Vice-President of the Ventura County Asian American Bar Association, and a member of the Ventura County Bar Association, the Ventura County Chinese American Association, and the Japanese American Bar Association.
For three and a half years (1995-1998) he served as a Captain in the United States Army Judge Advocate General Corps. He continues to serve as a reserve Judge Advocate. Major Nomi is presently the Command Judge Advocate of the 304th Sustainment Brigade. From September 2008 to September 2009, he spent a year at Joint Base Balad, Iraq, with his Army Reserve unit.
Brian Nomi practiced business and civil litigation with Nordman Cormany Hair & Compton LLP from 1999 to 2007. He opened his own practice in January 2007. Brian Nomi is licensed in all California State and Federal Courts.
In 1986, Mr. Nomi was presented his Eagle award by the Boy Scouts of America. He has traveled around the world three times, visiting such places as the Great Wall of China, the Taj Mahal of India, the Nepalese Himalayas, Uluru of Australia, and most countries in Europe. He speaks some German and Chinese. Brian Nomi is married to Dream Pei and has two young daughters. The family lives in Camarillo, California.
