Testimonials

I'll recommend Matthew Jeffery if you want to file immigration applications. His knowledge and experience made the process smooth. You don't have to have any knowledge about the process, just follow steps which are well organized. Matthew and his team were very responsive in answering any type of questions I asked, even stupid ones. But please still review your application forms carefully. It's still your responsibility to review your own application. 5-stars service!

Scott Silber

Fantastic, straightforward service throughout. All the staff were helpful and pleasant to deal with at all points in the process and made my adjustment of sponsorship application so much easier. My partner and I are delighted with the result and would easily recommend Matthew to anyone. If you're looking for people who really take the time to know your case and give you first-class service, there's really no one else worth considering!

Questions & Answers

Please describe a case in the last year or two where you made a big difference.

In Hassouna et al v. Canada (MCI) 2017 FC 473, my office worked with other counsel to successfully strike down as unconstitutional certain citizenship revocation laws that targeted immigrants who had committed some form of fraud during the citizenship application process. In Ge et al. v. Canada (MCI) 2017 FC 594, my office worked with other counsel to overturn as unfair the refusal of 57 immigration applications on the basis that they had not provided use of representative forms listing an unlicensed immigration representative.

How did you build a successful practice?

I built a successful practice the old fashioned way, by working hard to provide the highest quality of legal services and customer service while maintaining a reasonable fee structure.

What should clients look for in a lawyer?

Clients should look for a lawyer who has at least several years of proven successful experience in the type of law that relates to their case.

How important is local knowledge to the success of your cases?

Local knowledge is important largely as it relates to understanding the procedures and knowing the personnel at local immigration offices, tribunals and courts.

What information can you provide in a free phone consultation?

My office will pre-screen inquirers to see if they have an immigration matter that we can assist with and can offer some basic free advice either by phone or email.

What information do you need in a free phone consultation?

Callers should be able to identify what immigration program they are interested in and explain how they qualify for the program.

What differentiates you from other lawyers in your community?

My office is a boutique immigration law office focused on Spousal Sponsorships, Express Entry applications, and Appeals before the Immigration Appeal Division and the Federal Court, among a few other areas. We have years of specialized knowledge and expertise in these areas that sets us above other immigration lawyers.

What is the most rewarding aspect of your job?

I enjoy being able to help people to have a better life. I believe that assisting people to obtain residence in Canada will definitely contribute to that.

What are your other interests in addition to law?

I like to follow politics, watch classic movies, and occasionally venture into the woods to do some fishing.

Are you involved in your community?

I am a member of the local gym and do my best to support local restaurants and vendors.
