Admitted to the Texas Bar in 1996, Carey is a graduate of Oklahoma City University School of Law. He focuses his practice on Business Law, Collections, Insurance Disputes, Estate Planning and Probate. He is also a qualified mediator and qualified family law mediator.

Carey was born in Big Spring, Texas. He graduated from Big Spring High School. He attended both the University of Texas in Austin, where he obtained a Bachelor of Arts in English, and the University of North Texas in Denton, where he obtained a Master of Arts in English. Carey attended St. Mary’s School of Law and Oklahoma City University School of Law, where he obtained his Doctor of Jurisprudence. He was elected the Erath County Attorney in 2000 and re-elected to the same position in 2004. Carey served as the Chairman of the Board of Directors for the Stephenville Chamber of Commerce in 2005 and also chairs the Legislative Committee for the Chamber. He is a member of the Stephenville Optimist Club and of the Erath County Bar Association. Carey is admitted to practice in all Texas State Courts (1996), the United States District Court, Northern District of Texas (1998), and the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit (1998). He is married to Julie and has one daughter.
