Questions & Answers
Please describe a case in the last year or two where you made a big difference.
A client came in with a tax issue. The IRS had put a lien on their property, and was garnishing wages and tax returns. The IRS was claiming this client owed several thousand dollars, and were threatening to foreclose on their home. After dealing with the IRS, and having a hearing, the IRS has decided that this client is not liable for any of the taxes, and is going to return any money that has been paid toward this debt with interest.
What should clients look for in a lawyer?
When shopping for an attorney, one should look for someone they feel they can trust, not only to work on their behalf, but that won't beat around the bush with their case and the issues they are having. Additionally, you need to find an attorney that you will be able to get along with, and work with throughout the whole case. Some issues can last years, and so you will want to be comfortable with the attorney you choose to work with.
What information can you provide in a free phone consultation?
Free consultations will normally be limited to a short phone call in order to get a general idea about the issue you are having. This should allow the attorney to get an idea of the strength of your case, or the basis of your situation, in order to make the best determination for a strategy moving forward.
What information do you need in a free phone consultation?
It will be a discussion of the facts of the situation, and what an ideal outcome would be. The most important information is a strong understanding of the facts, and the ability to describe any evidence you have to support your side.
What are your other interests in addition to law?
Other interests of mine include sports, and music. I am a big fan of my alma mater, Michigan State University, and watch whenever I get the opportunity. I also play a number of instruments, and like to play when I can.
