About Catherine

Catherine A. Schwartz's undergraduate studies were in sociology at Philadelphia Christian College. She graduated with a B.S degree in law and a JD at Western State University College of Law, San Diego, in 1991. After passing the California State Bar in 1991, Ms. Schwartz practiced family law, juvenile dependency, and juvenile delinquency law in both San Diego and Riverside, CA.  In 1994 Ms. Schwartz joined the Law Offices of the Public Defender in Riverside County.  Ms. Schwartz was a Deputy Public Defender for approximately 12 years. She handled all aspects of indigent criminal defense. In her years as a deputy public defender she was assigned to all units in that office including but not limited to misdemeanor and felony trials. She handled serious cases such as child abuse, sexual molestation, rape, homicide, arson, theft, white collar crimes, drug cases and domestic violence.  The last five years with the public defender she was a supervisor in the Indio office where she trained new attorneys and was in charge of the juvenile unit.  In 2006 Ms. Schwartz joined the team of excellent attorneys at the Blumenthal Law Offices.  She brings with her a vast working knowledge of the criminal justice system.  Additionally, Ms. Schwartz has been involved in community based outreaches such as Smile Seekers, Voices for the Children and Volunteers in Parole.  She was an attorney coach for the Perris High School Mock Trial Team and the Paloma Valley High School Mock Trial Team for approximately six years.
