About Chad

People don't typically hire an attorney because things are going well in their lives and they have nothing better to do with their hard earned money. My office and I keep this in mind as we work through each and every issue of each and every case. We take a pragmatic approach - keeping an eye on the goals of each case and an eye on expenses as well.

Family law matters typically require a retainer of $2,000 and hourly billing at $220.00. Many criminal law matters are handled on a flat fee basis, and the amounts vary depending on the level of charge and complexity of issues. Personal injury and civil rights matters are handled on a contingency basis, and my office only gets paid if my client receives compensation. Each and every case is different. Some cases are routine and it's feasible to charge a flat rate. Others are more complex and require a retainer and billing at an hourly rate. In order to better determine what method of billing is most appropriate for each case, I provide each client a free consultation in which we have an opportunity to thoroughly discuss the details specific to each case.

Doug Costello, et al. vs. Gersh Zavodnik

Doug Costello, et al. vs. Gersh Zavodnik Indiana Court of Appeals Case Number: 49A04-1504-PL-163 Zavodnik sued our client, Mr. Costello, and obtained a judgment for $30,044.07 for a printer which sold for less than $75.00. It its May 23, 2016 opinion, the Court of Appeals found that Zavodnik abused the Trial Rules and that he has a history of doing so. The Court of Appeals reversed the judgment and ordered the Trial Court to hold a hearing to determine whether Zavodnik’s lawsuit should be dismissed for “Zavodnik’s repeated, flagrant, and continuing failure to comply with Indiana’s rules of procedure.” As a follow up, after holding a hearing during which Zavodnik had to be removed from the hearing due to his disruptive behavior, the Trial Court determined Zavodnik’s lawsuit should be dismissed for “Zavodnik’s repeated, flagrant, and continuing failure to comply with Indiana’s rules of procedure.”
