About Charles

Charles Carter Turner was born in Anniston, Alabama. He attended primary and secondary schools in Anniston. After completing an enlistment in the United States Marine Corps, Charles received Bachelor of Arts, Philosophy, magna cum laude, from Emory University. He attended the University of Alabama School of Law, from which he received his Juris Doctor in 1991.

Charles is an attorney, with his practice in Anniston, Alabama. He is admitted to the bars of the Supreme Court of Alabama, the United States District Court for the Northern District of Alabama and the United States Court of Appeals for the 11th Circuit.

Charles presently serves on the board of directors of The Donoho School. Charles has served on the Anniston Historic Preservation Commission, of which he was chairman in 1994. He served on the Fort McClellan Reuse and Redevelopment Commission and was its chairman in 1996. Charles served on the Fort McClellan Restoration Advisory Board and was its first chairman. He served on the Local Advisory Board for the Salvation Army and was a member of the vestry of Grace Episcopal Church in Anniston. He is a member of the Rotary Club of Anniston, of which he was President in 2005 and a Paul Harris Fellow. Charles coached 12 seasons of youth soccer in Anniston.

Charles is married to the former Rebecca Lee Stokes. Charles and Becky have one son, Stokes Turner, who is a student at Auburn University. The Turners reside in Anniston and are members of Grace Episcopal Church. Charles is an avid cyclist.
