Questions & Answers
Please describe a case in the last year or two where you made a big difference.
Medical malpractice claim settled for $3 million. Benefited client by working out a reduction by her medical provider and Medicare - who had paid over $2 million in medical bills - to less than $400,000 so that the client netted $1 million.
How did you build a successful practice?
We are three brothers who started out in 1986 working together to build our practice based upon lessons learned from our father, a successful small town attorney, to be truthful, honest, forthright, treat every client or potential client with respect, and to do our best to do the utmost to provide for the legal needs of our clients.
What should clients look for in a lawyer?
Honesty, client recommendations, communication - returning telephone calls timely, and clear and full explanations of the good - and bad - points of their case.
How important is local knowledge to the success of your cases?
Knowing the temperament and idiosyncrasies of the judges, being able to relate to jurors who may be called upon to hear the facts of a case, and knowing and having a good relationship with the adjusters for the insurance companies allows us to settle most cases favorably.
What information can you provide in a free phone consultation?
We can usually let a client know if they have a case worth pursuing, how long they have before they have to file suit, if the case is "good" or not, what we can do on their situation at the time of the call, and whether or not they need to come in to see us to get more information. We always give information and advice free. Not only is our initial consultation free, but we do not charge if we cannot obtain a recovery for the client.
What information do you need in a free phone consultation?
Usually we need the facts, names of witnesses, names and addresses of doctors and brief synopsis of medical care already provide and what the client's medical problems are.
What differentiates you from other lawyers in your community?
All three of the attorneys discuss our cases regularly between ourselves to come up with the best ways to maximize recovery on the case and to be sure it is being handled fully and competently.
What is the most rewarding aspect of your job?
It is always satisfying to know that you have helped someone get their lives back on track, helped them in their efforts to recover mentally, physically, and financially from the effects of a severe accident, and have contributed to society to make the lives of our clients a little better than when they first came to see us.
What are your other interests in addition to law?
We are involved in social events in our area, like Mardi Gras parades and balls, charity events, and local fund raisers, including political elections - both on the local, state, and national levels. We like to hunt and fish, spend time with our families and friends, and relax on the weekends like everyone does.
