Questions & Answers

Please describe a case in the last year or two where you made a big difference.

I have been able to save many homes from foreclosure n the last two years.

How did you build a successful practice?

My practice is based on compassion and competence. We concentrate on doing a few bankruptcy cases well and carefully rather than warehousing. I maintain an active internet presence (website, blog site) and provide answers to questions posed by AVVO users.

What should clients look for in a lawyer?

It is important that a good bankruptcy lawyer know the basics of bankruptcy law and practice which is a very complex and all-encompassing area and have a compassionate nature. I have in excess of 8 years experience in bankruptcy and have been a business lawyer for more than 35 years. They should be willing to give you individual attention and should not take your case unless they are sure that they can improve your financial situation materially. Bankruptcy is not for everyone. I have solid practical problem solving skills in addition to a strong legal mind.

How important is local knowledge to the success of your cases?

It is important to know the local rules of court and the judicial attitudes of the local bankruptcy judges and trustees. Also, clients like to deal with local bankruptcy lawyers for their convenience.

What information can you provide in a free phone consultation?

I do not do free consultations however in my initial consultation I do a comprehensive high level financial review and determine if applicable what chapter of the bankruptcy code to file under for maximum benefit. This interview is invaluable to the clients as they leave my office with a knowledge of how the law can help them and insight into their problems which they never had before. They will typically gain a sense of relief as many have been convinced that there is no viable solution for their situation.

What information do you need in a free phone consultation?

I do not do free consultations however no special information is needed, generally people are aware of their debt position, their income and the assets they need to protect. This is after all why they are seeking protection and my services.

What differentiates you from other lawyers in your community?

People skills, ability to articulate and clarify the law in lay terms, a caring attitude, individual attention paid to each case, low volume, legal issue spotting skills and knowledge of the law.

What is the most rewarding aspect of your job?

Saving homes and other valuable assets. Interacting with people.

What are your other interests in addition to law?

My 2 English Cream Golden Retrievers, Caring for and improving my home, Classic Rock music, concert going, automobiles, Pro Football, Ohio State Football. I also read extensively in current affairs, science and space exploration, historical novels, etc.

Are you involved in your community?

I maintain a home office in Downingtown. My work presently occupies my time and attention, but I will seek more involvement in community affairs.
