About Cole

Cole Smith is an associate attorney at Colvin Law Firm. Cole has been licensed to practice law in Louisiana since 2005. Cole received a Bachelor of Science degree (magna cum laude) in accounting and Master of Professional Accountancy degree (magna cum laude) from Louisiana Tech University in 2000 and 2001, respectively. Cole began his professional career as an auditor with KPMG in Shreveport. Cole successfully completed the Certified Public Accountants’ examination and entered law school at Louisiana State University in 2002. In 2005, Cole received Bachelor of Civil Law degree and a Juris Doctorate degree from LSU and graduated in the top five percent of his class. Cole was also a member of the Order of the Coif and the Louisiana Law Review.

Upon graduation from law school, Cole practiced for two years with a litigation firm in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Thereafter, Cole decided to relocate to Shreveport to be closer to his family in Winnfield, Louisiana and accepted a position with Colvin Law Firm.

Cole is admitted to practice in the Louisiana, United States District Court, Middle, Eastern, and Western Districts and the United States Court of Appeals, Fifth Circuit. Cole’s memberships are: Baton Rouge Bar Association (2005-2007), Louisiana Bar Association (2005-present), American Bar Association (2005-present) and Shreveport Bar Association (2008-present).

Cole practices primarily in litigation. Primary areas of practice legal malpractice defense, insurance defense, construction litigation, and commercial litigation.
