Questions & Answers

How did you build a successful practice?

By gaining the trust of my clients, I was able to build a solid foundation for my practice based on word of mouth, which is imperative for a small law firm. When a client hires a lawyer, they want someone who will follow through with their word, and the only way they know that will happen is based on the experience of other clients.

What should clients look for in a lawyer?

A client should look for a lawyer who not only understands what their client needs, but also charges reasonable fees based on those needs. A client needs to make sure that the lawyer is willing to listen and to learn about their goals, so they not only understand what the client needs today but can share their vision for tomorrow.

How important is local knowledge to the success of your cases?

Having experience with of the intricacies of local courthouses can be quite helpful with the success of a case, especially knowing local rules and familiarity with courthouse procedures.

What information can you provide in a free phone consultation?

The first thing I want to provide the client in a phone consultation is what can be done for their particular situation. I want to be up front about how long the process will take and what cost will be involved. And if their legal needs are not the types of law we practice, then whenever possible we will refer them to someone that we know and trust.

What information do you need in a free phone consultation?

I like to get as much information as possible that is relevant to the client's case. The more information that is provided about their situation during the consultation, the better I can map out both a strategy and a timeline for them.

What differentiates you from other lawyers in your community?

I value my clients and feel they should always expect a timely response when an email is sent or a voice message is left. A client never wants to nor should feel like they have been forgotten about. In my opinion, peace of mind in the legal field is a crucial intangible.

What is the most rewarding aspect of your job?

I have worked in some very large law firms, but now through my own practice I can now give much more personal attention to my clients and their cases which has led to strong long term client relationships. I would be remiss if I didn't mention that it is rewarding to show young women that you accomplish whatever you set your mind to.

Are you involved in your community?

I am a member of the Orange County and Los Angeles chapters of the National Association of Women Business Owners (NAWBO) and just recently received a 2016 Remarkable Women Award from NAWBO-OC. I am also a member of the Orange County Bar Association, the Los Angeles County Bar Association, the Beverly Hills Bar Association, the Irvine Chamber of Commerce and the Los Angeles Chamber of Commerce. I have helped to raise thousands of dollars for Leukemia and Lymphoma by running the Long Beach Marathon, worked at the Orange County Courthouse to provide free procedural assistance to people who do not have attorneys and also worked with Los Angeles Public Legal Counsel providing legal aid to indigent members of the community.
