About Dan
Webb earned a JD from the Loyola University Chicago School of Law in 1970. Previously, he graduated with a BA from Western Illinois University.
Webb is currently chairman of the Winston & Strawn law firm. He focuses on high-profile litigation cases and has ties to former Illinois governor Gov. James R. Thompson. Webb was an assistant US Attorney in the Special Prosecutions Division in the Northern District of Illinois from 1970 to 1976. After a stint in public law, he turned his focus to defense, particularly of white-collar crime and corporate corruption. Webb was the head defense trial counsel for General Electric in a price-fixing case, and he represented Microsoft in an antitrust litigation.
Webb has focused his legal career on litigation, and has tried over 100 jury cases. He focuses his practice on major commercial, civil, regulatory, and white-collar criminal cases. His notable achievements include prosecuting retired Admiral John Poindexter in the Iran-Contra affair and leading the “Operation Greylord” investigations into judicial corruption in Cook County, IL. Webb also helped Verizon obtain a $58M verdict in a patent litigation matter, and conducted an internal investigation into the New York Stock Exchange concerning the compensation of its former Chairman and CEO. Webb also helped Ernst & Young settle favorably in a class action lawsuit, and secured a summary judgement for Scientific-Atlanta in a securities fraud class action suit.
