Please describe a case in the last year or two where you made a big difference.
A woman was denied her long-term disability insurance benefits. A larger law firm in New York turned down her case. I was able to successfully appeal the denial and get her all of her benefits.
How did you build a successful practice?
By treating each case as if it was my own.
What should clients look for in a lawyer?
A good lawyer is decisive, prompt and compassionate with the client but all business when dealing with the opposing side.
How important is local knowledge to the success of your cases?
Very important, you have to understand how the Judges do business to be successful in their Courtroom.
What information can you provide in a free phone consultation?
Honest and complete answers that will at least empower the client with direction with their matter.
What information do you need in a free phone consultation?
The identity of the opposing party to make sure there is no conflict of interest and a basic understanding of the factual background, including any upcoming deadlines for the client's matter.
What differentiates you from other lawyers in your community?
I am willing to listen.
What is the most rewarding aspect of your job?
Educating my client's to avoid further conflict and problems, helping them out of a bad situation.
What are your other interests in addition to law?
I'm a family man, raising kids. I also enjoy carpentry and farming.
Are you involved in your community?
Yes, I volunteer my time teaching the Legal Portion of the NRA's Personal Protection in the Home Course, which is the MI CPL class at the Chelsea Rod & Gun Club.
