Questions & Answers
Please describe a case in the last year or two where you made a big difference.
We have successfully litigated and tried many complex Civil actions including: Commercial Real Estate Dispute. Commercial real estate client came to me after served with an unlawful detainer. They were on the verge of losing their business. KLW was able to bring landlord to negotiating table, resolve case quickly, avoiding costly litigation, and allowing my client enough time to sell his business. KLW leveraged their scores of unlawful detainer trial victories in negotiations for successful result. Fraudulent Investment Action. Investor client loaned over $1,000,000 to adverse party. After receiving several interest payments, adverse party stopped paying. After extensive time trying to resolve it on their own, client grew frustrated with adverse party's broken promises of repayment. Implementing aggressive litigation strategy, suit was filed and adverse party's property was liened before it could be sold. In fact, the property was in escrow to be sold when client hired this office. Professional Malpractice Action. Construction industry client received very bad advice from contracted business consultant and accountant. As a result of this advice, client misclassified workers and was sued by former worker. Client paid a large settlement and we successfully sued business advisor. Classic Car Dispute. Client engaged in bitter dispute involving family heirloom classic car. KLW was retained and after filing several motions to recover possession of the vehicle, case settled. Client ultimately sold vehicle at auction for excess of $3,000,000. Marvin Action involving real property. Unmarried client in romantic relationship for 15+ years. After ending relationship, client retained office to enforce promises made by adverse party for support and interests in real estate assets. Complex civil action initiated and ultimately resolved before trial. Probate and Trust litigation. $8 million estate with complex trust disputed between two beneficiaries. After being retained, KLW was able to negotiate successful resolution, disposition of assets including family business, beachfront property, retirement accounts, and other assets. Defamation Action. Client retained KLW after adverse party spread untrue stories about client at his work place and in local community. After a legal action was filed, adverse party filed an Anti-SLAPP motion to dispose of case. That motion essentially required Client to prove their case at early stage of litigation. Through diligent investigation, KLW secured critical facts to corroborate Client's version of events and destroy credibility of adverse party. After Court denied motion, case settled. Construction Dispute. Client subcontractor worked on multimillion dollar project in Los Angeles County. Financial issues with owner left Client unpaid and uncertain of recovery. KLW filed action to foreclose mechanic's lien and secured payment of all amounts owed plus attorneys' fees and costs. *Parties are confidential and case results representative of numerous clients and case results obtained by Mr. White and KLW.
How did you build a successful practice?
KLW attorneys adhere to the motto: enjoy it. Many lawyers hate the practice of law. We enjoy it. Many lawyers do not fully investigate every aspect of a case, actively assert legal arguments that push the case forward, or work up the tough cases. Our attorneys enjoy doing that. Many lawyers don't respond promptly to their clients, provide timely status updates, or budgets. We enjoy communicating and guiding our clients. Many lawyers are not visible in the community. Our attorneys are leaders in the legal community and their communities because we enjoy it.
What should clients look for in a lawyer?
Trust, communication, experience, and results.
How important is local knowledge to the success of your cases?
Essential. Regularly appearing in front of Orange County courts in both state and federal court provides expertise that results in greater efficiencies and value adds to clients.
What information can you provide in a free phone consultation?
Free 15 minute consultation to understand case type, liability, damages, and recoverability of most cases, and explain fee structure for that case. Often, the next step is an in person meeting with key documents and client(s).
What information do you need in a free phone consultation?
Name, contact information, case type, location of dispute, and Client's goals.
What differentiates you from other lawyers in your community?
We diligently and aggressively work up every case. We are leaders in the legal community with exceptional results. We enjoy navigating our clients through complex disputes.
What is the most rewarding aspect of your job?
Assisting clients with complex disputes that they never thought they could win.
What are your other interests in addition to law?
Mr. White enjoys spending time with his wife and three young children at the beach or traveling abroad.
Are you involved in your community?
Mr. White enjoys his numerous leadership roles in the legal community including the Board of Directors for the Orange County Bar Association, Association of Business Trial Lawyers Orange County, and American Bar Association. In addition, he has served in his neighborhood association, church, and numerous charitable organizations including OneOC and the Public Law Center.
