About David

David Corbitt is a partner in the Indianapolis office of Krieg DeVault LLP, practicing in the    Business Practice Group.  He is the chair of the firm's Privately and Closely Held Business Service Group. His practice is concentrates primarily in the transactional areas of mergers and acquisitions, securities laws and corporate law.  Furthermore, he has spent a significant amount of time assisting clients in respect to a variety of general corporate matters, including, but not limited to, matters concerning corporate governance, choice of entity, dissolution, corporate finance, corporate control and operation with specific emphasis on the needs of privately and closely held businesses. In addition, Mr. Corbitt has also provided guidance to clients in respect of laws, rules, regulations and regulatory matters relating to charter schools, master and sub-franchise arrangements, banking, investment advisers and broker/dealers.

Mr. Corbitt received a Doctor of Jurisprudence degree, cum laude, in 1997 from Indiana University School of Law Bloomington and was an associate member of the Indiana Law Journal.  He received a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting from Central Connecticut State University where he was also a recipient of the Scholar-Athlete Award as well as other honors for academic achievement. Mr. Corbitt is admitted to practice in the States of Indiana and Illinois.

Mr. Corbitt is a member of the American Bar Association and the Indianapolis Bar Association.  As a member of the Indianapolis Bar Association's Diversity Task Force, he chaired the subcommittee responsible for organizing the wildly successful Diversity Job Fair, which brought law students from across the country to Indianapolis for networking and interviewing opportunities with Indianapolis legal employers. 

Mr. Corbitt contributes a significant amount of time participating in community and non-profit efforts.  Mr. Corbitt has a passion for organizations that encourage access to education and opportunities for achievement, which is demonstrated through his service on the Advisory Council of the United Negro College Fund. Mr. Corbitt also served as a member of the Board of Education for the Metropolitan School District of Pike Township in Indianapolis, Indiana from 2001 to 2005.  The Metropolitan School District of Pike Township provides instruction to over 10,000 students from diverse mix of ethnic, racial and socio-economic backgrounds.
