Please describe a case in the last year or two where you made a big difference.
Felony probationer in possession of a firearm reduced to a misdemeanor at the preliminary hearing and the negotiated to a disturbing the peace. Complicated asset distribution and spousal support to other spouse in divorce with a very unreasonable other spouse later negotiated to equal division and permanent termination of support. My client was spared substantial attorney fees.
How did you build a successful practice?
My practice was built from a prayer and one client at a time. A passion to succeed in each client's matter and recognized by others in the courtroom as work begets work.
What should clients look for in a lawyer?
Knowledge of the legal issues and a detailed interplay in the court system. The initial contact and the relationship in the moment and how that is perceived and forecasted by the client whether there is a connection to a real and authentic person who happens to be an attorney.
How important is local knowledge to the success of your cases?
Local knowledge I believe equates to relationships to everyone in the local legal community. Relationships can be the determining factor in a negotiated favorable outcome versus a scorch the earth mentality. There is a time and place when to unholster!
