About Donald
Donald N. Perkins graduated with a B.A. from Brigham Young University in 1975, and he earned an M.S. in Human Resource Management - Economics from the University of Utah in 1978. He received his J.D. from Wayne State University Law School in Detroit in 1993, while working as an employee of Lakeshore Legal Services of Macomb County Legal Aid. Mr. Perkins was admitted to practice in Michigan that same year. The following year, Mr. Perkins was admitted to practice in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan.
Mr. Perkins' legal associations include the State Bar of Michigan, Family Law Section, the Macomb County Bar Association, and the American Bar Association. His law practice focuses on helping persons in need: criminal defense, representation of personal injury victims, bankruptcy law, divorce and family law, as well as probate, wills, and estate planning.
Between graduate school and law school, Mr. Perkins served in the United States Army and got to know the business world. He worked as Unit Production Manager for U.S. Repeating Arms Company (Winchester Firearms), and from 1984 1990 he was the Regional Subcontracts Procurement Manager for Textron Lycoming.
Mr. Perkins is a former Lieutenant in the United States Army, and a former Captain in the United States Army Reserves. He is a Certified Lay Speaker and Adult Sunday School Teacher at the First United Methodist Church of Mt. Clemens, and he is on the church's Endowment Committee. Mr. Perkins is also a Board Member and Treasurer of the Macomb Symphony Orchestra, as well as an attorney-member of the Animal League Defense Fund. He and his wife have lived in Macomb County for more than twenty years, currently with their two dogs and three cats.
