About Donald
Don Woody has been a life-long resident of Springfield. He graduated with honors from the University of Missouri-Columbia in 1970. In 1973, he received his juris doctor degree from the University of Missouri School of Law where he graduated in the top 10% of his class, was on Law Review and was a member of the Order of the Coif. He has practiced law in Springfield since that time. Don has authored and lectured on numerous trial practice topics for state and local trial lawyer organizations, including authoring the chapter on "Closing Arguments" in the Missouri Products Liability Handbook. He is the author of Personal Injury Trial Notebook, a 694 page practical trial manual that provides detailed information, examples, and forms on trying personal injury cases from developing initial trial strategy to filing and arguing all post-trial motions that is published and currently being nationally marketed by legal publisher, James Publishing.
Don has been a trial lawyer his entire career representing both claimants and defendants. He handles cases in the areas of personal injury, medical malpractice, product liability and business litigation. He has won/settled several million-dollar cases in those areas of expertise. Don received his A-V (highest available) attorney rating from Martindale-Hubbell in 1992.
Don is admitted to practice before the United States Supreme Court, United States Court of Appeals For The Eighth Circuit, United States District Court For the Western District of Missouri, and all courts in the state of Missouri.
Don had been named one of the Missouri and Kansas Super Lawyers in 2008 and 2009.
Don is of counsel, meaning that his legal clients enjoy all of the services of the excellent staff, equipment, and facilities of Hall, Ansley, Rodgers & Sweeney, P.C. because of his business relationship with the firm but he is not a shareholder in their professional legal corporation.
Personal:
Don has been married to Ann since 1971 and has two children, Cate and Marshall. He is an Eagle Scout and former scoutmaster. When not advocating for his clients, Don enjoys running, biking, golf, and float fishing all the streams in southern Missouri and northern Arkansas.
