About Douglas

Douglas F. Martin is an associate in the firm.  Mr. Martin received his undergraduate degree from the United States Naval Academy in 1975, graduating with merit.  He received a Master of Arts degree from Webster University in 1981, and graduated from the University of Kansas School of Law in 1984.  Mr. Martin served as a member of the Kansas Law Review from 1982 to 1983.

Mr. Martin has practiced law in a number of fields, including general litigation, tort and civil rights law, criminal law, municipal law, appellate law, and general practice.  He is admitted to practice law in the Kansas Supreme Court, the United States District Court for the District of Kansas, and the 9th and 10th U.S. Circuit Courts of Appeal. 

Mr. Martin served on active duty with the United States Navy from 1971 to 1981, and was re-called to active duty for Operations Desert Shield and Desert Storm.  During the time he served with the United States Navy, he was a fleet carrier jet pilot flying A7Es, an instructor pilot in TA4Js, he has served as a commanding officer of five (5) separate U.S. Naval Reserve units, and from 1996 to 1998 he served as a staff member with the Sixth Fleet Reserve Unit.  Captain Martin was transferred from active-reserve status to retired-reserve status in 2002 as a Navy Captain (O-6), after serving for more than 31 years on active and reserve duty with the United States Navy.  Mr. Martin is a member of the 1985 Leadership Kansas class.
