About Duane
Duane Barrick brings his own unique experiences to the successful representation of patients and families who have been harmed due to medical malpractice. Duane is both an attorney and a Registered Nurse (RN). In addition, Duane has firsthand knowledge of how medical malpractice cases are defended by insurance carriers. Duane’s wide legal experience before coming to Navitsky, Olson & Wisneski includes years as a defense attorney at one of Pennsylvania’s largest medical malpractice defense firms defending physicians, hospitals, and nursing homes against professional negligence claims. His knowledge of defense tactics now benefits our clients.
As a RN for more than eight years before becoming an attorney, including years spent as a Surgical/Operating Room nurse in a large multi-specialty hospital, Duane gained extensive experience in, and knowledge of, the fields of Pediatrics, Intensive care, Oncology, Emergent care, and Surgical/Operating Room care. In addition, as a nurse he achieved National Certification as a CNOR. Duane served for many years in the United States Army Reserve, where he obtained the rank of Captain and is a veteran of the first Gulf War.
Duane is a Member of the Million Dollar Advocates Forum, whose membership is limited to attorneys who have won million and multi-million dollar verdicts, awards and settlements for their clients. In obtaining such membership, Duane has helped patients and families throughout the counties of Pennsylvania who have had their lives irreparably changed by delays in the diagnosis of cancer, delays in the diagnosis and treatment of strokes and cardiac issues, the misreading of radiological images, anesthesia mistakes, surgical errors, incomplete physical exams, and the wrongful death of loved ones.
As an attorney, Duane is admitted to practice before the Supreme Court of the United States, the United States Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit, the United States District Court Middle District of Pennsylvania, the United States District Court Eastern District of Pennsylvania, the United States District Court Western District of Pennsylvania, all Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Courts and the Court of Appeals of the District of Columbia. He is also an active member of the Medical Malpractice section of the Pennsylvania Association for Justice and the Civil Litigation section of the Pennsylvania Bar Association.
Duane is a lifelong resident of South Central Pennsylvania who relishes all the blessings our area has to offer. When he is not practicing law, Duane can be found spending time with his wonderful wife and children, helping out with baseball and karate, gardening, going to amusement parks and museums, volunteering at church or the Hershey theatre, biking, reading history, and traveling with his family.
