State of North Carolina v. Jenelle Evans
Successful dismissals and not guilty verdicts of MTV's Teen Mom 2, Jenelle Evans.
Please describe a case in the last year or two where you made a big difference.
We have had several clients accused of Driving While Impaired who lost their cases in District Court and believed in us enough to follow our recommendations to appeal to Superior Court. After receiving a not guilty verdict on these matters, the clients were extremely happy. One jury deliberated in a local "record" 3 1/2 minutes, ruling not guilty.
How did you build a successful practice?
Hard work, dedication to our clients and open communications with our clients on a daily basis. The focus on each and every client goes a long way and builds success.
What should clients look for in a lawyer?
Honesty. Too many times I see attorneys trying to sugar coat an answer to their clients and simply not being honest with them. The truth and the reality of the situation always needs to come from the attorney.
How important is local knowledge to the success of your cases?
Incredibly important! I am our local Bar President and District Bar President-Elect. This requires me to learn and know more about the officers who come through our court room. Knowing the local rules, local officers, local D.A.s and local judges is paramount to a successful practice.
What information can you provide in a free phone consultation?
Most information that a client is seeking.
What information do you need in a free phone consultation?
Charge(s), county, court date, setting, etc.
What differentiates you from other lawyers in your community?
I have earned a reputation for working hard for my clients and my clients can expect that from me. I communicate effectively with my clients and seek dismissals in my cases, rather than just pleas.
What is the most rewarding aspect of your job?
Righting the wrongs of others.
What are your other interests in addition to law?
I love my family, enjoy traveling, and love the history of our Ciivl War.
Are you involved in your community?
I am involved in my community and with our church.
