About Elizabeth

Liz attended Texas Tech University School of Law, and went to work after graduation in 1999 for the Chief Justice of the Court of Appeals in Amarillo.  This job allowed Liz to delve into complex legal disputes at the appellate stage, which she thoroughly enjoyed. However, after many long years in the windy and dusty plains of the panhandle, Liz and her husband decided that Austin was a better fit for them, even in the absence of gainful employment there.  Consequently, they moved, and, on faith and a prayer, Liz hung a shingle and successfully began practicing family law for several years.  Liz took a couple of years away from the law while her children were very young, and she started back up in 2006 at the Law Office of Tim Whitten.

Liz enjoys working with clients to solve their problems, and has learned that collaborative law is the best way to do that. She finds that it is much more gratifying to work with her counterparts, rather than against them, to achieve a creative answer to a complicated family law issue.

As an attorney and mediator, Liz has helped countless families of all backgrounds find solutions to their family law problems.  She works best with clients who value respect and honesty in their everyday relationships, and who are ready to take part in directing the course of their case and their life.

When she's not working with clients, Liz tends to her four kids (husband, daughter, son and slightly neurotic cat), and in her spare time she relaxes with crossword puzzles, scrapbooking and quilting.
