Questions & Answers
Please describe a case in the last year or two where you made a big difference.
Assisted several clients in preparing estate plans to protect their family's future in a cost effective and efficient way. Clients with minor children have the piece of mind that they have named a guardian to raise their children in the event of their death and naming a trustee to handle the minor children's money until the children reach an age where the parents believe they are mature enough to handle their own finances. Also helped several clients resolve their divorce, custody and child support issues in a caring, efficient and cost effective way.
How did you build a successful practice?
I have built a successful practice by receiving numerous referrals from former client and other attorney's. The referrals come from my track record of being a caring, responsiveness and being upfront about the attorney fees so that there are no surprises to the clients.
What should clients look for in a lawyer?
Client's should look for a lawyer that they connect with. It is very important for a client to be comfortable communicating with their lawyer. A lawyer is most effective if they have all the information about case or situation that the client is seeing the lawyer.
How important is local knowledge to the success of your cases?
Local knowledge is important in cases that are going to be filed with the court. Local attorneys will have information about opposing counsel or the judge or referee that will hear the case. If the layer does not know the judge, referee or opposing counsel they may have a colleague that does. Local knowledge is less important in estate planning and transactional cases that will not be handled on court.
What information can you provide in a free phone consultation?
Yes I provide a free phone consultation.
What information do you need in a free phone consultation?
Have your questions written down so that you cover everything. If your consult relates to a divorce or an estate plan write down a list of your assets and debts is helpful and the consult can result in more specific answers.
What differentiates you from other lawyers in your community?
I am different from some lawyers in my community by being upfront about fees at every step of the case so that their are no surprises at the end of the case. My track record of getting referrals from former clients is proof that they are satisfied with the service they received that they are willing to refer a family member or a friend.
What is the most rewarding aspect of your job?
The most rewarding part of my job is helping clients navigate through the complexities of the law and translating it in a clear and concise way so the client can make informed decisions for themselves and their loved ones.
What are your other interests in addition to law?
I enjoy spending time with family, boating, cooking and group fitness classes.
Are you involved in your community?
I am member of the Minnesota Bar Association, North Dakota Bar Association and Hennepin County Bar. I also participate in the Low Fee Family Law Project in Hennepin County and the North Dakota State Bar Association volunteers lawyer program.
