When my landlord refused to return my security deposit after claiming he had to paint the walls and refinish the floors at the end of my 5-year residency, I turned to Aaron. He heard me out, saw that I had a good case, and acted swiftly to serve the landlord. End result? Within 6 weeks, he negotiated a deal where I got back over 2x the value of my security deposit. I like his candor and his 'I got your back' attitude. I would definitely recommend Aaron Krolik Law for any tenant-landlord issues.
Your only option in the city of Chicago for the best/top tier attorney to represent tenants is Aaron Krolik. Aaron listens, empathizes, and is the premier subject matter expert in real estate and tenant law.nSo often everything favors on the side of the landlord, but Aaron's trust in you as a client allows him to ensure that you are not being taking advantage of. This is rare in this day & age and coming from an attorney. I'm so grateful to the effort that Aaron put into my case, and just like the rest of his reviews? you will see a successful outcome. 100% recommend.
I actually haven't had to use Aaron's services, because he was straightforward enough to tell me I didn't need them for my current situation. Even though I'm sure he was busy with clients, he did get back to me sooner than he'd planned on when I told him I was meeting with my landlord soon after we spoke. I hope I don't need a tenant lawyer, but if I ever do Aaron would be my first choice.
I had a perfectly fine relationship with my landlord of 3 years -- until I moved out and he paid me less than half of my security deposit. My landlord had used the money for minor wear and tear, including painting the apartment and replacing a light fixture that had never worked since I moved in. He also failed to provide itemized receipts for what these repairs cost. nnAfter reading his reviews, I contacted Aaron to see what my options were. He asked me to send him a copy of the letter from my landlord as well as a copy of my lease. He got back to me almost immediately and said I had a great case. In addition to what I mentioned above, it turns out my landlord also hadn't paid interest on my security deposit, the penalty for which is twice the amount of the security deposit. In his defense, after I sent my landlord a letter, he offered to pay me half the remainder of the security deposit, but it was too little too late -- and if he had been willing to do that in the first place, why not just send that amount from the beginning? The whole thing felt dishonest on his part, which is why I'm glad I contacted Aaron.nnAaron emailed me often to keep me informed of how the process was going. We didn't go to court since my landlord basically had no case, and the whole thing was settled in about two months. I ended up with an amount that was more than fair without gouging my landlord, and Aaron was able to get his fees from the landlord as well. The only thing I paid out of pocket was the fee to file the lawsuit, which I gained back more than threefold when the lawsuit was settled. nnIf you have any kind of problem similar to mine, don't hesitate to contact Aaron. The whole process of filing a lawsuit was stressful and annoying, but these things are sometimes necessary to get what you deserve. Aaron took the reigns and basically dealt with it all himself -- making things much easier on me.
Aaron Krolik was extremely helpful with a landlord that had surprisingly and unlawfully withheld portions of our deposit. He explained everything and kept us informed in a timely manner throughout the entire process. He also handled things very strategically when the other party started waffling and being uncooperative. It was a pleasure to work with someone so straightforward and efficient. I would definitely recommend Aaron's legal services to others with similar issues!
