I hired Mr.Crowley to represent my fiancé in a federal case. I paid him $10,000 in full upfront. He promised he would help him get a reduced sentence and that Arturo Mendez would handle the sentencing hearing. I contacted Arturo myself and he claimed he had zero knowledge of the case. He did absolutely NOTHING for us. Took him 3 months and due to a COURT ORDER for him to appear in court to take over representation for my fiancé from the public defender. Even the JUDGE asked if we wanted to continue being represented by this man and let him have it. Crowley has since been disbarred thank god but I’m still out my money. Hopefully the WSBA will be kind enough to gift me money back. I sure hope karma bites him.
The case was for a man arrested for for multiple arsons. The man had been driven to commit them due to having severe command hallucinations. He had not been believed throughout his life that his destructive and bazaar behaviors had been caused by anything other than his own motive to do them. For this reason, he submitted to the commands as there was no hope or relief in sight. He even 'agreed' to his guilt on hundreds of smaller things that he had in fact been commanded to do, in order to try to keep peace with whoever was confronting him over what the voices had commanded him to do. This was ALL explained to John before being paid $20,000 to represent him . It was made clear that the goal of this case is to establish the cause of Billy's actions, which would require a thorough and in depth psychological evaluation to rule IN or OUT a psychotic disorder. It was also a huge concern that without such an assessment, it would be hard for Billy to get access to treatment. Clarifying and establishing Billy's condition was the essence of the hiring of John to represent Billy. John promised over and over and over to pay for (from the $20,000 he was paid) a thorough assessment for Billy with a specific psychologist locally, who I had asked for when John asked me to find someone. He continued to act as if this promise would be kept for months and months all the way up to the end when he had Billy plea bargain to end the case. Even after Billy's release, John reassured he was keeping his promise and setting up the assessment. It makes you want to think that he does mean it and he does care but he's just so busy trying to help so many people. It has now been seven months since Billy's release after the plea bargain and still no assessment. No response to my endless text messages, calls, and emails asking and begging him to follow through with what he promised. John, please follow through and I will update this review!
I don't know how this man has obtained or managed to keep his license for this long. He is a F'N scammer! I hired him for 10000 to work on a case for my father, he called me everyday for three days after our consultation claiming we should get started on the case right away and once we cut him the check, GONE! Nowhere to be found, no answering our calls. Lies about the results he can achieve for you. He is a scammer, stealing from the vulnerable just to come up on your money. Report him! Report him! Report him! I have already sent in a complaint to the Washington State Chief Disciplinary Counsel and anyone who has experienced this same ridiculously unprofessional and cheap behavior please do the same!! Let's make it so this man never scams anyone again.
This man is a coldhearted crook. A dear friend of mine hired him at the cost of 15,000 up front cash before going into custody. Once he was arrested Mr. Crowley did absolutely nothing. Did not show up for court appearances. Did not notify the court that he was his lawyer. Mr. Crowley avoids phone calls and is playing games about returning the money so we can hire a lawyer that will do more than ignore thier client. Save your money and your loved ones or yourself and dont trust this man!
I hired John in March since hiring him I now have hope that my mistakes won't ruin my future and that John is working his hardest to get the best deal in place for me. We have been in good contact and meet 2-3 times a month another for court. Outstanding attorney in my opinion.
